Live in Balance and Harmony - Simple Wild Free

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Crystal Hoshaw, Founder of Simple Wild Free, located in Seattle, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I provide live online group classes for self-care and deep nourishment using Ayurveda. Caregivers, parents, and those in service-related occupations are frequent course participants who give a lot of themselves but don't always allow themselves to take care of themselves. When they tend to their own needs, they could even experience shame.

I assist them in moving from this place to one of reverence and self-compassion, giving them the resources they need to take excellent care of themselves and grant themselves permission to do so.

Tell us about yourself

I've been interested in perennial wisdom since childhood. It's simply who I am. I've always wanted to both live it and share it in my own way—through nonduality, Ayurveda, self-care, creativity, and whatever other avenues are available to me.

My own healing journey has involved overcoming the negation of my own needs, perfectionism, and feeling undeserving of my own care. The Creative Self Care course brings together my love of wisdom with my life experience and offers that up to others who can benefit from it.

My members are my motivation: when I see the light bulb of recognition on their faces during a session, feel them melt with me during meditation, or receive feedback about how the course has positively affected their outlook and their lives, that's all it takes. This work is absolutely the work of the heart.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been finding a way to offer something that's meaningful and, truly, inherently beneficial to others that can actually sustain me. There's so much manufactured need out there, and I don't want to participate in that.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There's so much invisible work that goes into the behind-the-scenes of owning a business, and that can often be lonely and overwhelming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It's OK to take baby steps.

  2. You don't have to explode overnight, become Instagram famous, or get featured in Forbes—those things are also OK too.

  3. If you focus on giving your gift to the world and put one foot in front of the other, the world will embrace you with open arms.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Those who are interested can sign up for a free e-course on my website. It's all about slowing down and savoring life. They can also join our lovely community on Vibely, where there are often free events like group meditations, mindful luncheons, coaching sessions, and more.
